Founded by my brother Angelo and me, our mission is simple: to bring the authentic flavors of Italy, especially Sicily, to Michigan and beyond.

Our Roots: The Sumerian Bread Company

Our journey began with our father, who founded the Sumerian Bread Company in Michigan back in 1992. His vision was to create a business that celebrated the true taste of Italian cuisine, using only the highest-quality ingredients and traditional methods. He believed that food was more than sustenance—it was a way to connect people, honor culture, and bring joy to everyday life.

Carrying the Torch

After our father’s passing, Angelo and I knew we wanted to honor his legacy. We transformed the Sumerian Bread Company into Marotta IEWD, a company dedicated to uniting the marvels of Sicilian food and sharing them with a wider audience. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in every product we offer, from artisanal breads to gourmet sauces and specialty ingredients.

A significant part of our growth comes from the time I spent in Sicily, forging relationships with local suppliers and investors who share our philosophy: the client comes first, and the products must always be the best available.
